The bottom one is better. The top looks off. But either way, the beginning of the one on the bottom looks very unnatural but the dissipating looks good. You should rework that part.

I recommend reading "Elemental Magic", a new book on special effects animation made by a Disney animator.

I like the Animation, but I agree it looks more
like a smoke from a magic spell, less natural.
I played around with smoke too,..look at this:

I just purchased Elemental Magic and can't wait to read it - smoke is such a difficult thing to animate and I admit being very poor at it. Always something to learn!

I think it was a good start, as others said the dissipating seems good. Maybe some darkened areas would help illustrate smoke overlap?
